The event began with an introduction to national building industry policies and trends by Mr. Cai Chuo-fang, Group Leader of the Architecture Research Institute, Ministry of the Interior. This was followed by a presentation from Mr. Chen Weiren, Director of the Taichung City Housing Development Engineering Department, who shared his insights on the development of social housing in Taichung. The session continued with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology presenting its technical research and application achievements, including the 4D_BIM cloud-based operation and maintenance management platform, low-embodied carbon building assessments for Taichung social housing, and the collaborative development of a new SRC precast structural assembly method with Dah Hsin Engineering. In addition to BIM digital technology, the university has also been in deep discussions with Microsoft Taiwan to establish a consensus on jointly developing a proprietary database for the building and construction industry, which is currently lacking in countries worldwide. The planned outcomes will be uploaded to Microsoft’s international platform for use by the global construction industry.
Finally, the session concluded with a summary of the technical research and application results, outlining plans for the future development of talent in the smart net-zero construction industry. The aim is to address the construction industry's challenges, such as labor shortages, high carbon emissions, and digitalization gaps, and to cultivate skilled professionals aligned with industry trends.
The achievement presentation is based on national policies promoting smart net-zero buildings and the success of BIM digital technology in the development of social housing in Taichung. The presentation serves as a comprehensive report, with the goal of sharing with the building and construction industry and receiving feedback from government, industry, and academic sectors.
