Tanhai Elementary School in Tamsui District celebrated the official opening of its newly constructed campus yesterday, just one year after its founding. Deputy Mayor Liu He-Ran presided over the ceremony, highlighting the school's integration of smart digital technologies and green building design, which reflects a modern educational vision. He noted that with Tamsui’s population now surpassing 200,000, the city has invested NT$890 million in the new campus, which also includes a social welfare complex combining a nonprofit kindergarten, childcare center, and senior daycare facility—creating a harmonious hub for both education and daily life.

In response to the district’s growing population, Liu said the city began planning the school in 2018, and it officially started enrolling students in the 2024 academic year. The campus architecture embraces Tamsui’s local heritage and natural ecology, incorporating green energy technologies and digital systems. A standout feature is its covered breezeway, designed to resemble a traditional sampan setting sail—symbolizing the hope that children will embark from Tanhai with global vision and bold dreams.

Principal Lin Jiu-Mu shared that the school currently has 28 classes and around 800 students, with a full capacity of 1,400 students. The campus offers bright, comfortable classrooms, a makerspace, multi-functional learning areas, and a self-service kitchen, enriching the educational experience and promoting resource sharing among schools.

Additionally, Liu He-Ran visited Qinghai Temple in Sanchong later in the day to offer birthday blessings for Lord Su. He commended the temple's longstanding commitment to public welfare and, on behalf of Mayor Hou You-Yi, presented a plaque reading “Protecting the People and the Land.”
